Miles Davis Revolutionizes Jazz

Miles Davis was among the most influential and acclaimed jazz musicians of the 20th century. A great trumpeter, bandleader and composer, he was one of the most innovative and respected musicians in the history of music. The lyrically sensitive Davis was in the forefront of fusion and bebop styles, playing a crucial role in the major development of jazz beginning in the mid-40s.

John Coltrane was the long-winded virtuoso in constant search of the elusive original passage with unusual flourishes and extended solos. Coltrane was quiet and introspective while Davis was characteristically certain of himself. But it was the music that mattered. Performing brilliantly over a five-year period, they explored, and created a uniquely intensive jazz experience.
